New Years Resolution

1. Blog early, blog often.

It's 2 days after christmas and the kids are visiting family in San Francisco. My husband and I are FREE! We pick them up in just 8 days.

Yesterday was date night: dinner and a movie. He took me to Jasper's Peak, the new neighborhood restaurant. I had the creole pasta. I love me that andouille sausage. The blue moon had a lemon slice though (Gasp! Sacriledge! "Many wheat beers are served with a slice of lemon. Blue Moon, however, is traditionally served with a slice of orange, as it is said to accentuate the flavor of the brew. Some beer drinkers do not prefer fruit slices in their beer, since they believe the citric acid can eliminate the beer's frothy head.")

Then we went to watch "We Are Marshall". We haven't been to a movie in so long. And frankly, the experience was not at all desirable anymore. Who wants to sit and watch a movie with a bunch of complete strangers. Yeah, they were mostly ok during the movie, but the banter before and after the show, I could do without. There was one cell phone that rang during the film and one person several rows in front continued to scroll through the menus on their cell phone, although quiet, the luminescence from the phone was distracting.

The movie was all right. I really like Matthew McConaughey, but his sideways talk was starting to bug me. I think my favorite actor in the film would have to be Anthony Mackie. He did great in his role as one of the 4 surviving team members. He just looked like he had this huge weight on his shoulders to keep the Marshall Team going and when Coach Red Dawson (Matthew Fox) finally convinced him that he'd done enough, you felt all that relief. The big surprise of the night...I didn't cry! I get so emotional in movies, too. I cried during "Drop Dead Fred!" fergoodnesakes! But not a tear for this one.

It was still a nice time out.
